I think Carl KNEW that the CEO was likely to stop by and that’s why he dared Mike to dress in women’s clothes. Carl knew Mike well enough that Mike would have to double down as Amanda. He knew she would have to do...SOMETHING. He was surprised that Amanda practically forced him to pretend to her boyfriend and then kissed him, making the women of the company judge him and make him undateable in their eyes.
But the thing Amanda doesn’t understand yet is that this is EXACTLY what Carl wanted. He knew Mike would be beautiful as HIS Amanda. He just has to show her how much he loves her and transition from a pretend boyfriend to a real one.
